Over the past couple of weeks, JAY-Z’s 14th studio album, 4:44, has received much acclaim for the project’s social commentary and personal reflections. Artists and fans from all generations have chimed in on the record’s impact. “The God MC” Rakim, fresh off the reunion show with Eric B at the Apollo Theatre, recently spoke with BET during the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival this past weekend to give his take on the album.
Like many who found the project refreshing for its maturity and life lessons, Rakim felt as though the entire project was tailored made for the older hip-hop generation. He said in the current landscape that is dominated by youth culture, this album was much needed for the older fan who has grown and evolved.

It’s been four long years since JAY-Z last released an album and eight years since he’s dropped a solo project, so fans were highly anticipating the release of his latest offering, 4:44, which he dropped on Thursday at the stroke of midnight.
The album is bound to please fans just giving a first look at the tracklist, which features collaborations from Damian Marley and Frank Ocean.

Inyoung “Dassy” Lee kills it on So You Think You Can Dance
Sean Combs’ exclusive Apple Music documentary Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story officially debuted on the music streaming service last night [Direct Link]. The film was announced this past April, following the documentary’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Can’t Stop Won’t Stop follows Combs, aka “Puff Daddy,” and the rise of Bad Boy Records throughout the 1990s, all the way up until the reuniting of the Bad Boy Family in 2016 for a reunion show tour in New York City.
Nipsey Hussle brought out the city of Los Angeles for the grand opening of The Marathon Store over the weekend (June 17), and it was a star-studded event. Fans and friends were lined up around the new shop, which saw appearances from some big names such as Jim Jones, Nav, 21 Savage, Russell Westbrook, Vegas Jones and Demarcus Cousins, as well as his longtime girlfriend, Lauren London. The flagship store has all kinds of futuristic features, including programmable technology built into the store’s design along with products for exclusive Nipsey releases. Customers can download a special app that will help them activate special features when they purchase a particular item in the store.
